Porlock Weir to Lynmouth 12.5

It was good to stay two nights in Minehead but the downside was we had to wait until 10.53 for a bus to Porlock Weir. Never mind we filled in the waiting time by visiting the West Somerset railway and buying provisions for lunch.
We set off from Porlock Weir at 11.20 climbing up through woods and zig-zagging our way to Worthy Combe the original home of Lord Lovelace and then to Culbone Church, the smallest in England seating only 30 people. Its hard to imagine 30 people actually managing to get there!

We had a look inside and signed the visitors book before continuing on the high route with views of fields and sheep and trees below us before dropping down to the coastal wooded path. Once again we avoided the rugged alternative route.
That was Somerset done as the border with Devon is just before Sister's Fountain but it isn't marked in any way.

There were lots of coombes to get up and down as usual and it was quite hot but very windy on the tops. I managed to pick up two blisters on the way probably because my feet where hot. We didn't arrive at Lynmouth until 6.30 as we had been later setting off and it was quite a tiring day.

We stayed at River Lyn View B&B and had the sound of water lulling us to sleep.
The Village Inn pub supplied us with a rather curious evening meal but at least there was plenty of it and it was good value. Just time for a quick wander around Lynmouth and then time for bed.
